Bosses are demanding, kids are yelling, partners are nagging, but nothing brings back the quiet, the calm and the energy like a creamy double espresso that tastes like chocolate and hazelnuts. Sometimes that’s all we need to make everything good again.
This lot is another addition to our offering coming from Project Origin whose origin trip we joined this February to Ethiopia and Kenya.
Each Bossa Nova is selected from a single farm, delivering a regional profile while maintaining single-estate integrity. Farms include Santa Lucia, Santa Ines, Irmas Pereira, Fazenda IP, São Benedito, Fazenda Furnas, and Fazenda Sertão, with yellow bourbon as the chosen variety.
Harvested from June to August and available year-round, this coffee represents the premium potential of the Carmo de Minas region. Grown at 900–1300 m with moderate temperatures and high rainfall, it showcases a sweet, balanced, and refined profile with medium body and notes of caramel, nuts, chocolate, red apple, and raisins.
Regional coffees are a mixture of small microlots from a particular growing region of a coffee producing country. Producers, small and large, harvest and produce coffees with a range of cup profiles, such is the nature of working with a natural product. Project Origin with their trusted origin partners uses a final cup profile as a goal when working with unique terroir, coffee varieties, and the processing of a range of coffees, to intentionally combine lots that offer consistent and representative profiles for a given coffee growing region.
Understanding an origin deeply and working with these combinations is how Project Origin sources and curates their regionals range. That way, roasters like us all over the world can enjoy consistency and predictability from this range in the long run.
This regional coffee is harvested June to August but is available all year round and represents the premium offerings of the Carmo de Minas growing area.
It has a profile that is balanced and medium bodied, with familiar flavours of caramel, hazelnuts, chocolate, roasted nuts, cookies and milk cream. Its creamy structure makes it perfect for espresso, moka, turkish or coffees served with milk.
