€21,00After Espirito Santo, we want to share another competition coffee from this diverse origin with you. Coming from one of the highest coffee growing region of Araponga, this sweet and mellow pulped natural Catuai is a showcase of complexity this terroir can achieve. Thanks to his 30 years of experience, José Bernardes Santana produced this extraordinary clean and vibrant cup that won us over instantly.
The Fazenda Pedra Redonda is located in the municipality of Araponga, in the State of Minas Gerais, in a region called Matas de Minas, where coffees of great quality are produced. The Araponga’s region has around 80% of the farms above 1000 meters and doesn’t have the praxis of using pesticides.
Most of the growers have small and median properties and most of them work with “partners” (parceiros) or work in family. The farm is administrated by José Bernardes Santana, coffee grower for more than 30 years. The Coffee is handpicked, due to the mountains and rugged terrain machines are not used, and then transported to the patio or to the “African beds” where it is sun dried. José Bernardes Santana won the championship for the first time in 2003 Cup of excellence. Since then, he has won numerous awards and distinctions.
