Costa Rica | El Orvo SL28
by kava.family
€20,00Whenever we tried samples from Don Sabino ( and we tried a lot over the last years ), there was always one particular variety that stood out - one that the producer calls Kenya or SL28. The seeds stem from the variety originally found in Kenya and have found to be very well adapted to the growing conditions in Costa Rica.
This year we managed to finally buy a bag of this exquisite coffee after negotiating with the producer, our dear friend Steven Vargas. Before that, Tobi spend time in Costa Rica and went through a meticulous process of cupping this variety not only from 3 different farms, but also from different harvest cycles. To cut a long story short, one lot stood out among the already exceptional coffees. It was the second picking of this Kenya variety from Steven's farm El Orvo. Harvesting conditions seem to have been very favourable resulting in an incredibly sweet, juicy and complex cup of coffee. We get loads of red berries and cassis combined with a honey-like sweetness, hints of pineapple and a silky mouthfeel.
Don't miss out on this coffee!
